How custom-made fashion is produced
Updated: Feb 15, 2019
Vegotex International makes private label clothing collections. But what does that really mean? And how does it work? Let us share with you our knowledge on this business.
Private label clothing: garments manufactured by one company, for offer under another company's brand.
This concept is common in a wide range of industries. To make even more clear what it is, here are some general examples:
A festival organizer wants to dress up all its volunteers in the same T-shirt. That T-shirt with the festivals logo on it, can be produced by a private label manufacturer
A fashion design graduate wants to start his own clothing line. He designs all the styles and relies on a private label producer to deliver him the finalized products
A retailer sells 15 different types of brands in his store. He has a strong brand name and wants to expand it further. An option he wants to explore is to create a clothing line with his brand name. He doesn't have any experience in clothing design, so he counts on a private label manufacturer to advise him on designs, styles, materials... the whole shebang.
The main reason to rely on a private label manufacturer in these scenarios, is because that company has the expertise and knowledge of producing clothes. A skill you might not have in-house. These are the different stages you encounter in producing a private label collection:
1. Market research
Working in fashion means staying on top of trends. Thorough research and trend watcher reports are at the basis of the market studies done by our designers. They form the groundwork for their decision-making process in the selection of styles, colors and patterns.
2. Styling & design
Depending on your level of knowledge, our team works on your idea, sketch or design. Our seasoned team members put their experience and skills to work to shape and illustrate your project to your wishes. No challenge is too big!
3. Product development
This is the stage where all the details of your product are determined. We'll guide you in deciding on every one of them: fabric choices, colors, prints, artwork, embroidery and more. With over 90 years' experience in the trade, we know how to translate your design into the perfect finished product.
